Advantages of MBBR In Municipal Wastewater Treatment

1. Small footprint: with a packing ratio of 15% and the same pollution load, the MBR takes up about 20-40% of the tank capacity of a conventional Bioreactor (anoxic, anaerobic, and aerobic).

2. Suitable for expansion of municipal Sewage Treatment: in view of the small reserved area of most Sewage Treatment, when the actual quality and quantity of incoming water changes, the original design of the pool to ensure that the same capacity meets the original design water standards.

Moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) not only has the characteristics of traditional biofilm process, such as resistance to impact load, long sludge age, little excess sludge, and no sludge bulking but also has the high efficiency and flexibility of operation of activated sludge. On the other hand, the effect of temperature change on the MBR is much less than that on the activated sludge. When the temperature and the composition of the wastewater change or the toxicity of the wastewater increases, the MBR has a strong tolerance.

5. Nitrification and Denitrification can take place in a reactor, which has a good effect on the removal of ammonia nitrogen.

6. The concentration of sludge in the reactor is high. The concentration of sludge in the reactor is 5 ~ 10 times that in the activated sludge reactor and can reach 30 ~ 40 g/L. The treatment efficiency of organic matter is improved, and the shock load resistance is strong.
