Nowadays, settling plates have been replaced by plastic inclined pipe fillers because they have a lower cost and are easier to maintain and install. The flake clarifier can increase the settlement area by 5 to 10 times! It is also advantageous that the incoming water will be slowed down and redirected to the flow between the flakes and plates, which improves the flow pattern.
In general, the plate clarifier is a good solution for upgrading existing sedimentation tanks. Compared with conventional sedimentation tanks, the installation speed is significantly faster, and the total cost is about 1/3.
1. Why choose Juntai tube settler?
Juntai settlers provide an inexpensive way to upgrade existing water treatment plant clarifiers and sedimentation tanks to improve performance. They can also reduce the storage tank capacity/footprint required for new installations or improve the performance of existing sedimentation tanks by reducing the solids load on the downstream filter.
Tubular settlers made of lightweight PVC can be easily supported with the smallest structure that usually contains sink support. They are available in a variety of module sizes and tube lengths to suit any tank geometry, and manufacturers provide custom designs and engineering.

2. The characteristics of Juntai tube settler

1. The hexagonal honeycomb inclined pipe has a large wet-filling circumference and a small hydraulic radius.
2. The hexagonal honeycomb inclined tube filling has good laminar fluidity, and the sedimentation of particles is not disturbed by the flow of flocs.
3. When the filling length of the hexagonal honeycomb inclined pipe is 1m, the effective load is designed to be 3-5t/m2. When V0 is controlled within the range of 2.5-3.0 mm/s, the effluent quality is the best.
4. When the filling length of the hexagonal honeycomb inclined pipe is 2.0 to 3.0 meters, it can be safely operated and processed under the high turbidity condition of 50-100 kg/m3 of silt content.
5. Using inclined tube sedimentation tank, its processing capacity is 3-5 times that of horizontal sedimentation tank and 2-3 times that of accelerated clarification tank and pulse clarification tank.
3. The advantages of Juntai tube settler
It can be applied to any size of new or existing clarifier/tank:

1. The operating speed of a clarifier/tank equipped with a Juntai tube settlers is 2 to 4 times the normal speed of a clarifier/tank without a tubular settler.
2. The amount of coagulant can be reduced by half while keeping the influent turbidity of the filter of the treatment plant low.
3. Reducing filter backwash is equivalent to significant savings in water and electricity operating costs.
4. Due to the increased flow capacity, new devices using tube settlers can be designed to be smaller.
5. The flow of existing water treatment plants can be increased by adding pipe settlers.
6. The tubular settler increases the allowable flow capacity by expanding the settling capacity and increasing the solids removal rate in the settling tank.
4. Some introduction of tube settler’s history.

As early as 1904, Allen Hazen defined the law of deposition. He found that the particles in the water can only settle when the sedimentation velocity Vs is greater than the flow rate Q divided by the contact area A. Q divided by A is called the surface load qa.
Except for flocculation, the sedimentation velocity Vs and flow rate Q of the particles are difficult to change. We can only reduce the surface load qa by increasing the only variable contact area, thereby improving the settlement performance. In this case, in order to increase the contact area, we must install more horizontal planes. From the perspective of cost control, it is obviously impractical, so the horizontal plate is replaced by the inclined tube packing. The additional surface area of the inclined tube packing is produced by their projection in the horizontal direction.
Another advantage of inclined tube packing is that it produces countercurrents in the water-an upward flow and a downward sludge flow. Just like in a water pipe, the closer the water is to the surface of the pipe, the greater the friction. Therefore, due to friction reduced resistance, particle settling and sludge accumulation are improved.
