It is a well-known fact that activated sludge systems produce large amounts of biological sludge. It is also acknowledged that handling and treatment (incl.de-watering,conditioning, storage, transport and disposal) of the sludge is expensive and time consuming. Thus, a lot of money can be saved by choosing the correct type of biological treatment system before refurbishing or upgrading existing wastewater treatment plants or constructing new systems.
Biological sludge reducing systems based on Juntai BIO-BLOCK fixed film technology are now in ope ration in a number of countries. The systems are designed to treat a variety of different types of wastewater.
One example of a submerged, aerated bio-reactor system is called the“VBRVBRs are inoperation on many sites in the BENELUX countries and in Germany The system, which basically is a SAF concept, is characterised by extremely stable process properties and by the fact that the biological sludge volume is reduced by approx.80% in comparison to the sludge production from an activated sludge plant.

Trickling Filters with Juntai BIO-BLOCK
Bioloaical tricklina filters have been used for wastewater treatment since the end of the 19th century. Earlier the filters were based on stone type media, but in recent years the filling material has been changed to different kinds of structured or random type plastic media. Juntai BIO-BLOCK is an example of a structured media. Juntai BIO-BLOCK filter media for trickling filters is available with specific surface areas(dry condition of 100.150 and 200 m/respectively
Trickling filters can be constructed as primary treatment plants, nitrifying filters or as a combination of organic treatment and nitrification system.

The operating principle of a tricklina filter is simpe. Process water is distributed evenly loften by a rotating arm over the entire surface of the filter media. When the water percolates through the filter, dissolved organic material is withheld and degraded by the bacteria that make up the bio-film on the filter media. The result is an extra- ordinarily stable and energy friendly process for biological treatment of wastewater. A modern trickling filter plant with Juntai BIO-BLOCK filter media is one of the cheapest ways to remove and degrade organic matter in wastewater.
Juntai BIO-BLOCK Aeration and Degassing Systems
Juntai has extensive experience with the use of Juntai BIO-BLOCK 80 HD filter media for oxygenation, aeration and deaassing of process water in aauaculture plants. drinking water systems and wastewater applications
Normally, it is important that process water has a high content of oxygen and a low content of CO before reuse in the plant, alternatively. discharge to a recipient.Process water can be oxygenated/aerated/degassed without any extra energy supply if there is a “free fall” of water somewhere in the system. The water will then simply percolate throuah a Juntai BIO-BLOCK aeration unit by aravity. Alternatively. the process water can be pumped to an aeration uni usina a vertical propeler pump.Fither way these methods are cheaper to install and operate than expensive and energy demanding diffuser systems.

Anaerobic Wastewater Treatment and Denitrification Systems with Juntai BIO-BLOCK Traditionally, aerobic biological processes are the most commonly applied principle for treatment of municipal and industrial wastewater. So far anaerobic processes have primarily been used for sludge stabilising of surplus sludge.
However, due to the generally stricter discharge requirements with regard to removal of nitrogen and phosphorus compounds, anaerobic processes are gaining a foothold in wastewater treatment.

The production of sludge from anaerobic processes is only 10 to 20% of the sludge production in activated sludge plants. Therefore, expenses related to the treatment and handling of sludge(de-watering, conditioning. storage, transport, disposal etc.) can be reduced considerably
Anaerobic treatment plants can be divided into: Nitrate reduction systems Bio-gas systems, incl.sludge digestion
The filter media types most commonly used for anaerobic wastewater treatment plants are Juntai BIO-BLOCK.
Juntai plastic
Juntai plastic was founded in 2013. Today the factory covers more than 8.000 m2 production area, warehouses and offices.
In addition to production of the Juntai BIO-BLOCK filter media described in this leaflet, Juntai manufactures more than 700 different types of nets coverina a wide range of uses. to mention but a few: packaaina nets for fruit and vegetables, shaft protection nets, reinforcement nets for road construction, motorway embankments and land- scaping, fences for airports and gardens, noise reduction systems, warning nets and marking nets for electrical cables.
