Tube settlers use multiple tubular channels sloped at an angle of 60° and adjacent to each other, which combine to form an increased effective settling area. This provides for a particle settling depth that is significantly less than the settling depth of a conventional clarifier, reducing settling times.

Tube settlers capture the settleable fine floc that escapes the clarification zone beneath the tube settlers and allows the larger floc to travel to the tank bottom in a more settleable form. The tube settler’s channel collects solids into a compact mass which promotes the solids to slide down the tube channel.

Why Tube Settlers?

Tube settlers provide an inexpensive way to upgrade existing water treatment plant clarifiers and sedimentation tanks to improve performance. They can also reduce the storage tank capacity/footprint required for new installations or improve the performance of existing sedimentation tanks by reducing the solids load on the downstream filter.

Tube settlers made of lightweight PVC can be easily supported with the smallest structure that usually contains sink support. They are available in a variety of module sizes and tube lengths to suit any tank geometry, and manufacturers provide custom designs and engineering.

Advantages of tube settler

The advantages of tube settlers can be applied to new or existing clarifiers/pools of any size:

The operating speed of a clarifier/tank equipped with a tubular settler is 2 to 4 times the normal speed of a clarifier/tank without a tubular settler.

The amount of coagulant can be reduced by half while keeping the influent turbidity of the filter of the treatment plant low.

Reducing filter backwash is equivalent to significant savings in water and electricity operating costs.

Due to the increased flow capacity, new devices using tube settlers can be designed to be smaller.

The flow of existing water treatment plants can be increased by adding pipe settlers.

The tube settler increases the allowable flow capacity by expanding the settling capacity and increasing the solids removal rate in the settling tank.
