Performance of fillers-the most important index for evaluating the amount of biosorption of fillers
(1)Filler surface properties
1.Surface structure: it is generally believed that the Surface roughness is large and the film-forming speed is fast.
2.the surface potential: the general microorganism has a negative charge, the filler surface is the positive charge suitable for microorganism growth.
3.hydrophilicity: the microorganism is the hydrophilicity particle, the packing hydrophilicity is good suits the microorganism growth to hang the film condition.
(2)Hydraulic performance
1. Porosity: the volume occupied by the filler, the porosity is high and good.
2. Shape and size: the flow patterns that influence the flow of water and air.
(3)Fluidization performance:
with the density of the packing. The packing density should be 0.97-1.03. Fluidization can be achieved by small aeration or agitation.

3.Judgement of film-forming maturity
To the naked eye:
The biofilm distributes evenly on the surface of the carrier, the closer to the surface of the carrier, the denser and looser, and the color of the carrier becomes darker, which indicates that the carrier has entered the mature period.
Microscopic findings:
The structure of biomembrane is compact, the species of microorganism is various, the number of sessile ciliates, clock worms, and accumulative cladodes is in the majority, and a few rotifers and swimming ciliates appear, which indicates the maturity of biomembrane.
