In a conventional clarifier, particles with a gravity greater than that of the waste water settle to the bottom of the tank over time. The closer the gravity of the particles is to the gravity of the waste water, the longer the settling process takes and the larger clarifiers must be built.Lamella clarifiers are a very cost effective alternative to conventional clarifiers because they reduce the required tank volume by a factor of 2 to 4.
