The processing capacity of the filler is related to the surface load, specific surface area and filling rate.
When we fill the first-generation filler at a filling rate of 45%, MBBR achieves a nitrification capacity that is basically equivalent to that of the traditional activated sludge method.
If we use a larger specific surface area filler and a larger filling rate, its load will be even greater, which allows us to save land when the process is newly built, and to achieve a large range of upgrades during the transformation.
