- Small – 5/8" Diameter, 3/8" Height (more surface area, great when space is limited)

- Large – 1" Diameter, 3/8" Height (larger physical size is great for larger filtration systems)

 

There are types of mbbr media with density of 0.96 g/cm3 with bulk density of 100 kg/m3. Dimensions could be 25 x 10mm or closer to it available in various colors aside from white.

 

The parabolic shape of the BioChip 30 allows for a homogenous mixing of the Chips in the tank as well as for the active biofilm being optimally kept in the water flow. Hence, the supply of the microorganisms with substrate and oxygen is ensured at any time and at any load condition.

 

The microorganisms consume organic material. When compared to conventional secondary treatment it provides superior efficiency and value.

 

The MBBR procedure uses floating High Capacity Micro Organism Bio Chips media within the aeration as well as anoxic tanks. The microorganisms devour organic material.

 

However, the MBBR biofilm reactor does not have that problem. It's a dynamic fixed-film system. The aeration system keeps the fluid and the media moving around in the tank constantly. If it doesn't have time to sit and stagnate, then it doesn't smell, same as an activated sludge system.

 

After the tests carried out along this work, it is possible to conclude that a Filling Ratio of 40% reproduced better results in the COD removal efficiency in less reaction time and allows the discharge in the water environment according to the Portuguese law.

 

Feed water (usually water coming directly form overflow) is flowing upwards through the moving filter bed. Filtrated water is discharged at the top and into the sump. Solids are retained and the established biomass converts organic solids into No3. In order to maximize oxygen levels and the growth f the aerobic bacteria, air is injected into the moving media bed to create ideal operating conditions for the filters' biomass.
