MBBR K3 and moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) are commonly used processes for industrial and urban wastewater treatment. Both of these methods use media carriers to create a protected surface for the biofilm to attach. The large surface area of the MBBR K3 can provide capacity for large biomass inventories, increase processing capacity and/or reduce the volume of the water tank used for processing. In both processes, the medium carrier (fixed or mobile medium) is installed in the waste water tank. These containers are inflated to maintain the dissolved oxygen concentration to remove organic pollutants and nutrients. Then use precipitation to separate the solids and biomass in the treated wastewater.
The nitrification reaction can use either a fixed medium or a mobile medium to remove nitrogen and BOD. Common reasons for choosing more than one another include cost, website space availability, and ease of use operating.
