MBBR AquaSust MBBR ADVANTAGE:
Moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) is a moving medium system used to integrate fixed film activated sludge (IFAS) and moving bed biofilm reaction (MBBR) system, MBBR medium is the key in the system. In MBBR biofilm technology, biofilms are grown protected in engineered plastic media that have been engineered to have a high internal surface area.
These biofiltration media are suspended and thoroughly mixed throughout the aqueous phase. Using this technology, extremely high load conditions can be handled without any clogging issues and industrial and municipal wastewater can be treated in a relatively small footprint.
in principle:
The suspension medium is directly put into the MBBR system as a carrier for microbial growth and attachment. Wastewater passes through the suspended carrier in the MBBR reactor, and microorganisms attach to the biofilm carrier moving underwater to form a biofilm. The air is transferred to the water, mixing the medium and water and providing oxygen to the bacteria. Biofilms absorb, oxidize and reduce organic and inorganic substances, thereby providing treatment. The carrier can move freely in the reactor and mix with water; for aerobic reactor, aeration will move the medium; for anaerobic reactor, mechanical mixing will move the medium.
