Introduce:

Biofilm process, The trickling filter can be reliable and stable but does suffer from one serious drawback; it easily becomes clogged and septic even under moderate loading conditions. In the MBBR biofilm technology the Biofilm Reactor MBBR grows protected within engineered plastic carriers, which are carefully designed with high internal surface area. These biofilm carriers are suspended and thoroughly mixed throughout the water phase. With this technology it is possible to handle extremely high loading conditions without any problems of clogging, and treat industrial and municipal wastewater on a relatively small footprint.

Although Moving Bed Bio-film Reactor (MBBR) may seem like a new technology, it's been around since the late 1980s. As a proven wastewater treatment method for residential and commercial applications, in over 50 countries, MBBR has a track record of out performing all other systems. MBBR's high performance and low maintenance was the driving force behindA MBBR system consists of an aeration compartment with special plastic carriers called Kaldness, providing a surface where a bio-film can grow. These carriers are made of material with a density close to that of water, allowing them to easily move around all of the compartment. In these systems, the carriers are being mixed inside the reactor and kept in permanent suspension. The system does not require any return sludge recirculation and as a result, slowly growing microorganisms, which have become established on the carriers are retained in the system together with the carriers themselves.The availability of high-performance biofilm carriers, which have been developed over recent years, is one of the reasons for the increase in the application of the MBBR.
