What are the types of AquaSust Super MBBR media?
Below are a few different types of MBBR media:
Sponge type carrier:
Sponge-type MBBR media carriers have high mechanical strength, high specific surface area and a rough surface texture best suited for biofilms. Their spongy material is incredibly flexible, although they tend to wear out more easily than
other types.
Chip-type carriers:
Chip-type carriers are thin and have a high concentration of fine pores. They are also very flexible and offer strong resistance to wear and tear.
Coin-type carriers:
The advantage of thin coin-type media carriers is that wastewater can be filtered into them from either side of the media, so they have minimal effect on fouling. Some thin chip-type media carriers are coin-shaped.
Tubular carriers:
Long, narrow tubular carriers provide a larger surface area of MBBR media for microbial growth. Their shape also helps them to be evenly suspended in the water column rather than stacked on top of each other. However, due to their hollow form,
they can sometimes become prone to scaling.
