In the sewage treatment structure set up microbial growth gathered in the carrier (generally known as filler), under the conditions of oxygenation, microorganisms in the filler surface aggregation attached to form biofilm, after oxygenation (oxygenation device by the water treatment aeration fan and aerator composition) of the sewage to a certain flow rate through the filler, biofilm microorganisms in the absorption and decomposition of organic matter in the water, so that the sewage is purified, while microorganisms also proliferate The biofilm thickens. When the biofilm grows to a certain thickness, the oxygen diffusion to the inside of the biofilm is limited, and the surface is still aerobic, while the inner layer is anoxic or even anaerobic, and eventually leads to the shedding of the biofilm. Subsequently, the surface of the filler will continue to grow new biofilm, and so on, so that the wastewater is purified.
After the microorganisms form biofilm on the surface of the filler, there is a thin layer of water on the surface due to the adsorption of the biofilm, and the organic matter in the water layer has been oxidized and decomposed by the biofilm, so the concentration of organic matter in the water layer is much lower than that of the incoming water. At the same time, the oxygen in the air also passes through the wastewater and enters the water layer of the biofilm and transfers to the interior.
The microorganisms on the biofilm decompose the organic matter and metabolize the organism itself under the condition of dissolved oxygen, so the inorganic substances such as carbon dioxide produced are transferred from the biofilm to the flowing wastewater or air in the opposite direction, i.e. through the attached water layer. In this way, the organic matter content of the effluent is reduced and the wastewater is purified.
