1,Principle of bio media reactor

 

The principle of MBBR process is to increase the biomass and biological species in the reactor by adding a certain number of suspended carriers into the reactor, so as to improve the treatment efficiency of the reactor. Since the density of filler is close to water, it is completely mixed with water during aeration, and the environment for microorganisms to grow is gas, liquid and solid phases. The collision and shearing effect of the carriers in the water makes the air bubbles finer and increases the utilization rate of oxygen. In addition, each carrier has different biological species inside and outside, some anaerobic or parthenogenic bacteria grow inside, while the outside is hermotrophic bacteria, so that each carrier is a micro reactor, so that nitrification and denitrification reactions exist at the same time, thus improving the treatment effect.

 

bio media reactor has the advantages of both traditional fluidized bed and biological contact oxidation method, and is a new and efficient wastewater treatment method, relying on the aeration in the aeration tank and the lifting effect of water flow to keep the carriers in fluidized state, thus forming suspended growth of activated sludge and attached growth of biofilm, which makes the moving bed biofilm use the whole reactor space, giving full play to the advantages of both attached and suspended phase organisms. This allows the moving bed biofilm to use the entire reactor space, giving full play to the advantages of both attached and suspended phase organisms, making them complementary to each other. Unlike the previous fillers, the suspended filler can be in frequent contact with the sewage several times and is therefore called "moving biofilm".

 

2,Advantages of MBBR

 

Compared with the activated sludge method and fixed filler biofilm method, MBBR has the high efficiency and operational flexibility of the activated sludge method, but also has the characteristics of shock load resistance, long sludge age and low residual sludge of the traditional biofilm method.

 

(1) Characteristics of filler

 

The fillers are mostly made of polyethylene, polypropylene and its modified materials, polyurethane foam, etc. The specific gravity is close to water, mainly cylindrical and spherical, easy to hang film, no clumping, no blockage, and easy to remove film.

 

(2) Good denitrification ability

 

The formation of aerobic, anoxic and anaerobic environment on the filler, nitrification and denitrification reactions can occur in a reactor, which has a good effect on the removal of ammonia and nitrogen.

 

(3) Good effect of removing organic matter

 

The sludge concentration in the reactor is high, generally 5 to 10 times higher than that of the ordinary activated sludge method, and can be as high as 30 to 40 g/L. This improves the treatment efficiency of organic matter, and at the same time has a strong resistance to shock loading.

 

(4) Easy maintenance and management

 

The aeration tank does not need to set up packing support, so it is easy to maintain the packing and the aeration device at the bottom of the tank, and it can save investment and floor space.
