3.Is the filler prone to sludge bulking?

If it is normal sludge floc, and the size of the sludge floc is much smaller than the size of the filler, it will not break the sludge. Therefore, MBBR is beneficial to improve the sludge settling ability from foreign studies, and from our engineering practice, we have not found that the system using MBBR has obvious characteristics of sludge bulking.
4.Does MBRB media need a denitrifying wash?
Compared with traditional bioflms, the biggest advantage of MBBR is it doesn't need backwashing, because the biofilm automatically falls off. What we found from our research is that when you have a more active biofilm, it has more exudates of extracellular polymers, and it has a higher viscosity. So when it ages, its extracellular secretions decrease, its viscosity decreases, it automatically falls off in the fluidization process, and then new biofilms grow up, so it doesn't need to be washed. |
