We offer a range of biological filtration media sold by the cubic meter. These products are suitable for use in fluidized bed or moving bed tank systems. These are also known as "Biofilm Reactor (MBBR)" systems and are used in the treatment of water and wastewater.
Turbulent self-cleaning:
Due to the turbulent movement of the biological filter media in suspension, the filter media is self-cleaning and requires no maintenance. This allows the filter to perform optimally without requiring regular maintenance and avoids unnecessary loss of bacteria inside the filter. This allows for stable, low levels of ammonia and nitrites in the water.
The first few of these products are similar to the patented kaldnes media used in fish farming and waste treatment. The design creates an environment in which efficient nitrification occurs. Twater flow is created by aeration, which circulates the medium throughout the vessel. This high surface area for these products translates into the small physical area required for biofiltration devices.
Since the sample media is vigorously mixed by aeration, the media is self-cleaning and requires no maintenance. This makes the filter work best

Amount of media required:
A feed rate of 0.25 kg to 0.75 kg per day of 40% protein food requires 50 L of medium under good turbulent and aeration conditions.
