MBBR bio filter Specification:
There are more than one thousand MBBR bio filter units in the world. MBBR technology can be used for wastewater treatment in the following industries: food and beverage plants, steel plants, oil refineries, petrochemicals, chemical plants, paper mills, and any industry that requires wastewater treatment to remove BOD, nitrification and denitrification.The wastewater enters the MBBR and the biomass attached to the surface of the medium degrades organic matter, resulting in BOD removal and/or nitrification, depending on the type and characteristics of the wastewater. Organic carbon is converted to carbon dioxide and leaves the system, while ammonia and nitrogen in the organic matter are converted to nitrate through nitrification. The oxygen required for the process is provided by a diffuser installed at the bottom of the reactor. The treated wastewater then flows through the filter screen into a downstream clarification tank, where biomass and solids are separated from the wastewater.
Compared with the traditional activated sludge method, MBBR activated sludge technology has many advantages, so it has become the preferred biological treatment technology.
Some key features of MBBR carrier meida are as follows:
1. Robust-stable under load changes, insensitive to temporary restrictions, and provide consistent processing results
2. High efficiency-produce low solids, no need or minimal polymer for solid-liquid separation
3. Compact-it requires a small footprint. Usually it requires one third of the space required by the activated sludge process.
4. Cost-It requires a low capital cost, comparable to the cost of the activated sludge process. It is cheaper than MBR process.
5. Flexible-existing factories can be easily upgraded through MBBR. The new MBBR plant can be upgraded to handle higher loads without or with minimal cost and construction.
6. No trouble-simple operation, automatic sludge discharge, no sludge backflow, no MLSS, no media clogging problem.
7. Scalable-by simply increasing the filling rate of the biofilm carrier, the capacity can be easily upgraded

Like other biological treatment processes, MBBR is usually part of a multi-step wastewater treatment system, and other processes focus on different aspects of purification. This is why the MBBR process flow diagram usually includes other steps, such as sand removal and disinfection. Individual factories can customize the MBBR process itself and its overall wastewater treatment plan to appropriately meet its purification needs.
