What Is Polyacrylamide (pam)

 

Polyacrylamide (PAM) is a general term for acrylamide homopolymer or polymer obtained by copolymerization with other monomers. It is one of the most widely used varieties of water-soluble polymers. Due to the amide group contained in the structural unit of polyacrylamide, which is easy to form hydrogen bonds, and has good water solubility and high chemical activity, it is easy to obtain a variety of modifiers with branched chain or network structure through grafting or cross-linking, and has a wide range of applications in oil exploration, water treatment, textile, paper making, mineral processing, medicine, agriculture and other industries.

Principle Of Action

 

1.Principle of Flocculation action


When PAM is used for flocculation, it is related to the surface properties of the flocculated material, especially the kinetic potential, viscosity, turbidity and pH value of the suspension, and the kinetic potential on the surface of the particles is the reason for particle coagulation. By adding PAM with opposite surface charge, the kinetic potential can be reduced and flocculation can be achieved.

PAM molecular chains are fixed on the surface of different particles, and a bridge of polymer is formed between the particles, so that the particles form an aggregate and settle
